Hirsh Kozhenetz is the earliest known family member, born in Lithuania before 1772. His son Itsyk Kozhenetz was born in Vilkomir (Ukmerge) in 1792. Itzik married Freda, who was born ~1797 in Vilkomir and died on 30 October 1879 in Bauska, Courland, Latvia, just north of the Lithuanian border. The four known children of Itsyk and Freda Kozhenetz:

I.  Aryeh Leyb Kozhenetz (later Louis Isadore Maltz) was born in Vilkomir (Ukmerge) in ~1824. In ~1858 he married Sora Rivka, who was born ~1837 in Vilkomir (Ukmerge). Sora Rivka died on 28 July 1875 in Bauska, Courland, Latvia. On 31 March 1876 in Zeyml (Žeimelis), Lithuania, Aryeh Leyb married his second wife, Dvora Hinda Rubinstein, who was born in 1854 in Bauska, Latvia. Aryeh Leyb (Louis Isadore Maltz) died on 5 December 1915 in Massachusetts, USA.

• Jenney Kozhenetz (later Maltz), birth and death dates unknown. She married Joseph (?) Levy.
• Harry Kozhenetz (later Maltz) was born ~1859 in Riga, Latvia. He married Lena Yelovitz (born 1871 in "Russia"). Harry died on 6 December 1920 in Gary, Indiana. Lena died in 1945 in Beverly Hills, California.

• Rose (Beckie) Maltz (born Kozhenetz) was born ~1890 in "Russia." She married Robert Holmes, and she died on 20 December 1935 in Brooklyn, New York.
• Edith (Ida) Maltz was born on 12 August 1892 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Bernard (Barney) Green (born 15 March 1884 in Hillsboro, Texas). Bernard died on 26 November 1925 in Mount Vernon, New York. Edith died on 5 September 1964 in Flushing, New York. The four children of Edith Maltz and Bernard Green:
• Beatrice Green was born in Chicago on 20 August 1913. Although there is no evidence that she married Charles Blum (later Charles Lewis, born ~1910 in New York City), they had one son. She later married Samuel Ranofsky (born ~1910 in New York City, died in 1944 in New York City). Beatrice and Samuel had three children, one of whom died in infancy. Her first son also took the name Ranofsky. Beatrice later married Charles Levine (born 13 May 1922 in New York City, died on 17 May 1977 in New York City), and they had two more children. Beatrice died on 11 July 1979 in Jamaica, Queens, New York.
• Natalie Green was born 15 February 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. She married Leo Bloom (born 18 November 1909 in New York, died in January 1972 in New York). Natalie died on 28 March 1975 in Forest Hills, Queens, New York.
• Annette Green was born on 5 May 1920. She married Sylvan Greene, and they had two daughters. Annette Greene died on 4 May 2017.
• Charles Harold Green was born 11 November 1925 in the Bronx, New York. He married Gloria Sevarra, and they had one daughter. Charles died on 28 January 2001 in Margate, Florida.
• Myron Maltz (later Caldwell) was born in 1895. He married Rose Silver, and he died in 1939. The three children of Myron Caldwell and Rose Silver:

• Jacob (Yakov Eliezer) Kozhenetz (later Maltz) was born ~1864 in Lithuania or Latvia. He married Rachel (Ray) Yelovitz (born in 1868 in Riga, Latvia). Rachel died on 28 November 1911, and Jacob died on 15 January 1926, both in Boston, Massachusetts.

• The six children of Yosef Kozhenetz and Golda Itzikovich:
• Wulf (Velvel, Ze'ev) Kozhenetz (later William "Willie" Cousin) was born in Trashkun 1883-1884. He emigrated to the US in 1903 to avoid being drafted into the Russian army, and he settled in Toledo, Ohio. He took the surname Cousin, and on 30 January 1908 he married Sara Libe (Sadie) Friedman (born in Austro-Hungary on 8 July 1884, daughter of Sam Friedman and Katie). Sadie died in Toledo on 6 May 1939. On 27 August 1940 William married Miriam Teitelbaum (born ~1889 in "Russia," daughter of Jacob Teitelbaum and Devora Teschovitz). On 16 November 1947 he married Bertha (Bela) Oldstein or Meyer (born 22 August 1892 in "Austria," daughter of Jacob Meyer and Sarah; died in Toledo on 5 October 1990). William Cousin died in Toledo, Ohio, on 8 October 1971.

• Frieda Cousin was born on 19 January 1909 in Toledo, Ohio. On 14 May 1933 in Toledo, she married Harry H. Wolman (born 4 July 1907 in Toledo, son of Joseph Wolman and Etta). Sometime after 1933, she married Ernest (Chaim Avraham) Solomon, born 30 March 1911 in Brooklyn, New York; died 19 December 1976 in Petaluma, California. Frieda died in California on 2 October 2003.

He married Lilly (Leah) Greenspoon (born 18 April 1892 in "Russia). Isidore died on 20 December 1943, and Lilly died on 8 October 1979. Both are buried in the Anshai Sfard Cemetery in Rossford, Ohio.

• The three children of Isadore Cousin and Lilly Greenspoon:
• Rose Cousin was born on 3 May 1912 in Toledo, Ohio. On 18 March 1934 in Toledo she married Aaron Levison, who was born in Toledo on 19 April 19 1910. Aaron's parents had emigrated from Mogilev, Russia (now Belarus). Rose and Aaron had two sons and one daughter. Rose died in Toledo, Ohio, on 31 January 2000.
• Naomi Cousin was born 21 March 1916 in Toledo, Ohio. She married Sherwin Kripke (born ~1914 in Michigan), and they had three sons. Naomi died on 20 July 2007 in Toledo, Ohio.

• Evelyn Cousin was born 23 July 1925 in Ohio. On 10 March 1946 in Lucas County, Ohio, she married Hyman Auslander (born 13 May 1923 in New York City, died 27 January 2008 in Sylvania, Ohio). They had two daughters and one son. Evelyn died on 6 July 2019.

• Feyga Kozhenetz (later Fannie Cousin) was born in Trashkun in 1890. She emigrated to the US, and on 17 October 1915 in Lucas County, Ohio, she married William (Israel) Frey, who was born in "Austria" in 1884 and died in 1924.

• The three children of Fannie Cousin and William Frey:
• Grace (Glika) Frey, born in Ohio on 18 January 1917. She married Samuel Weiss (born 29 April 1911, died 15 July 1994). Grace died on 29 April 2005. Both Grace and William are buried in the Anshai Sfard Cemetery in Rossford, Ohio.
• Walter Frey, born in Ohio in December 1919.
• Adele Frey, born in Ohio, ~1923.
• Glika Kozhenetz was born in Trashkun in 1890. She was presumably killed in the Holocaust in 1941. According to the story passed down through the family, Glika was given to a non-Jewish family to hide during World War II, but the family turned her in and she was killed.
• Hertz (Tzvi) Kozhenetz (later Harry Cousin) was born in Trashkun on 5 August 1896. On 12 November 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, he married Sadie Raman or Riman (born in Lithuania 25 May 1900, died in Toledo, Ohio, 7 March 1968). • Nosen (Noske) Kozhenetz was born in Trashkun ~1896. On 21 August 1925 in Trashkun he married Riva (Rivka) Solomon (born 1904 in Trashkun). (Read about Rivka Solomon and her family.) On 20 April 1940 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, she married her first husband, Samuel (Sam) Tucker (born 23 July 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio). On 13 February 1943 in Lucas County, Ohio, Lillian married her second husband, Alfred (Asher) Ratkovitz (later Rayden), who was born 6 December 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio. Alfred died on 13 April 1972, and Lillian died on 22 January 1991, both in Toledo, Ohio.
• Ovsey Kozhenetz was born in 1871 in Vilkomir (Ukmerge) or Trashkun. Sometime before 1891 he married his first wife Sora (born 1874). III.  Fayvush Hertz (Russell) Kozhenetz was born in 1829 in Vilkomir (Ukmerge), Lithuania. He married Beila Goldberg (born in 1827 in Lithuania).

• Louis (Leyzer) Kozhenetz, later Kasenetz, was born 8 April 1851 in Vilkomir. In ~1870 he married Rose (Rashi) Ginsburg (born ~1852 in "Russia"). Louis died on 24 August 1927 in Mount Vernon, New York. Rose died on 27 May 1932.

• Max Kasenetz was born 9 December 1884 in Kaunas Gubernia, Lithuania. He married his first wife (name unknown) sometime before 1905. In 1912 he married his second wife, Mamie Rosenburg (born 1 September 1884). Max died on 15 August 1963, and Mamie died on 29 November 1977, both in Mount Vernon, New York.

In 1952 in Dade County, Florida, he married his second wife, Eva Finkelstein. Irving died on 12 November 1972 in Dade Country, Florida.
• Diana (Dina) Ghen was born in Rogeve (Raguva) in January 1909. On 3 April 1932 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she married Philip Krasnow (born 9 March 1903 in Shpola, Ukraine). Philip died in 1989.
• Sarah Ghen was born in Rogeve (Raguva) in 1912. On 4 December 1930 in Ponevezh (Panevėžys) she married Morris Unter (born in 1904 in Yaneve [Jonava]). Sarah died in 1960.
• Joseph (Yosel Hirsh) Kozhenetz, later Kasenetz, was born in 1858 in Vilkomir (Ukmerge). In ~1879 he married Virginia Berman (born 1858). The family emigrated to the US in 1901. Virginia died on 12 March 1915, and Joseph died on 20 September 1832 in Brooklyn, New York.

• Isidore (Israel) Kasenetz (born Kozhenetz) was born ~1882 in Lithuania. On 28 June 1904 in New York City he married Anna Rosenberg (born ~1883 in "Russia"). Isidore died on 10 March 1948 in Miami Beach, Florida. The four children of Isidore Kasenetz and Anna Rosenberg:

• Bella (Beyla) Kasnetz (born Kozhenetz) was born in Trashkun in 1890. On 7 July 1914 in Westchester County, New York, she married Barney Goldstein (born ~1887 in "Russia"). • Boris Yale Poritzky was born on 17 March 1926 in New York. He married Rhoda Yanif, and he died on 8 August 1994 in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
• Herman Poritzky was born 27 September 1928. He married Joy Miller.
• Alan Sander Poritzky was born 17 November 1935. On 22 August 1954 in Peekskill, New York, he married Barbara Brown (born 27 June 1935).
• Harry (Herts) Kasnetz (born Kozhenetz) was born in Trashkun on 15 May 1896. In 1921 he married Mollie Silver (born 29 June 1900 in New York). Mollie died in August 1976, and Harry died on 3 August 1986, both in Mount Vernon, New York. The three children of Harry Kasnetz and Mollie Silver:
• Marvin William Kasnetz was born 2 October 1922 in New York. He married Elinore J. Rain (born 13 April 1928). Marvin died on 13 October 2009 in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
• Bernard Kasnetz was born 30 March 1925 in Mount Vernon, New York. On 11 June 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, he married his first wife, Beatrice Daren (born 7 November 1928 in Brooklyn, New York; died 10 September 1994 in Cranbury, New Jersey). On 26 May 1996 in Somerset, New Jersey, Bernard married his second wife, Minerva Martuscelle (born 3 July 1934 in New York City). The child of Bernard Kasnetz and Minerva Martuscelli:
• Beverly Kasnetz was born 3 September 1926. She married Herbert Wagner.
• Mary (Merka) Kasnetz (born Kozhenetz) was born in Trashkun in 1897. On 26 October 1922 in New York City, she married her first husband, Berthold Israel (born ~1896 in New York City). Between 1923 and 1929, she married her second husband, Charles Klapwald (born 20 July 1900 in New York). Charles died in September 1977 in Hallandale, Florida. Mary died on 2 January 1992 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two children of Mary Kasnetz and Charles Klapwald:
• Boris Klapwald was born 21 May 1930 in Peekskill, New York. He married Myrna Kreis (born 10 December 1934).

• Benjamin Samuel (Pinkhas) Kasnetz (born Kozhenetz) was born in Trashkun on 5 July 1899. On 8 March 1931 in Peekskill, New York, he married Rose Bensky (born 7 January 1903 in Peekskill). Benjamin died in July 1981 in Hallandale, Florida. The son of Benjamin Samuel Kasnetz and Rose Bensky:

• Ayzik (Isaac) Kozhenetz was born ~1866 in Trashkun. On 2 February 1906 in Ponevezh (Panevėžys) he married Mariasha Kremer (born 1882 in Birzh [Biržai], daughter of Khone Kremer and Dina Schneider). Mariasha died in Trashkun the following year, 1907. Later in 1907 Ayzik married Mariasha's younger sister Chaya Beyla Kremer (born 1883 in Birzh). Chaya Beyla died in 1921 and Ayzik died in 1931, both in Trashkun. (See recollection of Ayzik and his family in Berl Glezer's memoir.)
• The child of Ayzik Kozhenetz and his first wife, Mariasha Kremer:
• Khonel Fayvel Kozhenetz was born in Trashkun in December 1906. He died in Trashkun on 25 March 1907.
• The five children of Ayzik Kozhenetz and his second wife, Chaya Beyla Kremer:

• Ovsey Shike Kozhenetz, later Sam Kasin, was born in Trashkun in August 1908. He was ~13 years old when his mother died. Since he had a problem with his eyes, he wasn't able to come to the US with his younger brother Khone. He eventually went to Saskatchewan, Canada, where he stayed until he could enter the US, using his brother's birth date and a different last name than his brother's. Shike/Sam married Hannah Kwash (born 19 March 1911). Sam died in August 1977, and Hannah died in December 1995, both in the US.

• The two children of Sam Kozhenetz/Kasin and Hannah Kwash:
• Eileen Kozhenetz, married Stanley Schulz.
• Steven Kozhenetz (later Kasin), married Michelle.

• Khone Kozhenetz, later Conrad Philip Kasnetz, was born in Trashkun on 11 January 1910. He was ~11 years old when his mother died. In 1927, at age 17, he went to New York to work in the grocery business of one of his uncles (his mother's brother). In the 1930s he went to Baltimore, Maryland, to work in his uncle Sam Kramer's dairy, delivering milk. He met Sophia in 1937 and they married on 19 February 1939. (Sophia was born in Baltimore on 24 May 1914.) Sophia died in December 1975, and Conrad Kasnetz died on 14 April 1986, both in Baltimore, Maryland.

• The child of Conrad Kasnetz and Sophia:
• Beverly Kasnetz was born 31 December 1949. She married Brad Feig.

• Frida Kozhenetz was born in Trashkun on 20 July 1911. She married Berl Glezer (born 23 July 1905 in Trashkun). The couple survived World War II by fleeing east to Siberia (see Berl Glezer's memoir). After the war they returned to Lithuania and lived in Vilnius until 1990, when they moved to Israel, where Berl died on 19 December 1991 and Frida died on 6 October 2001.

• The son of Pesya Kozhenetz and Shlomo Ratner:
• Itzhak Ratner was born in Palestine on 18 September 1941 in Israel. His first wife was Edna and his second wife was Marcelle. Itzhak died in Israel on 23 December 1993.

• Bina (Bunka) Kozhenetz was born in Trashkun in 1916. When World War II broke out, Bunka was living in Vilna (Vilnius). She was killed in the mass murders at Ponar (Ponary).

• Marion Freda Wolfe was born 21 May 1910 in Bound Brook, New Jersey. She married Joseph Goldweber, later Webster (born 27 January 1912 in Bayonne, New Jersey). Joseph died in 1969, and Marion died on 31 December 2004, both in Scarsdale, New York. The son of Marion Freda Wolfe and Joseph Webster:
• William Wolfe Webster was born in 1944 in New York City. He married Anna Knoll (born in Palestine in 1947).
