I married into a family that had her roots in Rezekne; but all family members died already.

I am in contact with a relative, an elderly woman who lives in America. She gave me the following information, which is about the Rezekne, that she remembers from when she was a youngster:

Rezekne was totally a Jewish town. She said they studied in a Yiddish elementary school and their relatives in studied in a Hebrew high school (gymnasia). There were many Synagogues in the town. Most of the families lived a Jewish traditional way of life. There were some magazines in their home. When Nazis, moved nearer, the parents, did not think they had to leave and run away. Only the youngsters, took bicycles, and rode into Russia, and that's why they survived. All the parents, grandparents were killed!
