Sokal
Ukraine
It is difficult to confirm what the Jewish population of Sokal was prior to the pogroms that took place before and during the Second World War. Because of the turmoil occuring throughout Poland and the Ukraine, Jews would move from one town to another seeking safe haven - Sokal was for a time one of those destinations. The Jewish population for that period may have been as high as 7500.
It is believed that only approximately 30 people from Sokal survived the holocaust.
