You can see in the far back a large white building: it's the former Ursuline convent where some of the Jewish children took classes in Latin.  It's now a hotel-restaurant.  The valley meanders along the River Sauer,  which eventually joins the Mosel River.

Salomon Mayer lived in the first houses with his wife Babette Bonem and their eight children.  The barn was attached on the side.  The synagogue stood right beyond the houses.  You can see a wall of the Catholic Church and its bell tower.

Sauerstaden

Sauerstaden is a beautiful street with chestnut trees and a park along the river.  Many Jews lived on it.  It goes towards the cemetery and in the direction of Echternach.
