Serbian Jews, like Jews in every country they have lived in, answered the call to defend their country.
The monument and soldiers shown below honor the Jews of Niš who gave their lives in defense of Serbia.

World War One Prisoners of War who came from Niš can be found on the following Register.
One of the POWs was Leon Pinkas who apparently died in January 1917 and is buried in
the Aschach-Deinheim Camp cemetery.
