Three victims are identified (by Ben Walker): The
three brothers
- Avrum Zimmer and
the twins Elias and Shaya Zimmer. The circumstances of
the murder as described by Ben Walker: "They were working in the
Lumber Company- the major employer in NEP. On their way home they
were arrested by the fascist Romanian police, thrown in jail,
where they were all murdered for no reason than being Jewish."
Photo: Edgar Hauster 2015 .
Jonathan Michael Wien translated from Ukrainian 2017:
"Here rest 36 Jews
from Nepolokivtsi tortured and shot dead by the Nazis in July
1941. May their memory live forever!
Chernovitz
association of former prisoners of concentration camps and
ghettos. Chernovitz regional fund "Chesed Shushana"."
Sadly, they were shot by locals, Romanian and Ukrainians. And more
sadly, many more were killed and died during the years of
deportation to Transdniestria.

"Born in 1862, in Zabłotów, Eastern Galicia.
After his marriage he moved Izbica, near Lublin, in those
days in Russian Poland.
As a foreign citizen, he was deported by the Russians, like all
foreign citizens,
and moved to
Nepolcauti
, Bukovina,
where he served as
Rabbi for over fifty years.
During WW1 he moved to Vienna, where he was among the first
signatories to permit legumes on Passover. After WW1 he returned
to Zablotoab
(mistake, should be "returned to Nepolocauti"-
Yohanan Loeffler) , where he
perished in September 1941".(Wrong, he was murdered while deported
from Yedinetz to Transniestria -
Yohanan Loeffler))

Zabłotów,
Nepolcauti

History of
the Jews in Bukovina
(1919 – 1944) (cont'd)
"...The
wave
of pogroms in Bukovina gradually subsided, especially since
the arrival of the Governor Alexander Risosanu (July 20,
1941). He came so to say after a fait accompli. The pogrom had
ended. Bad news arrived simultaneously from the province,
state and district of Czernowitz. The soldiers were told by
their superiors not to waste ammunition. A Jew was not worth a
bullet A new process of murder was instituted. Four Jews were
laid on each other and killed with a single shot.
The Romanian military patrols pushed far to the north. In the
territory between Waschkoutz and Wiznitz Szycz commanders from
Galicia hoisted the Ukrainian national flag and declared the
Ukrainian sovereignty of the territory in a gruesome way by
slaughtering the resident Jews.
Also in the villages of Nepolokoutz, Iwankoutz and
Juzinetz, the majority of the Jews were killed."
