Shimon Alperstein was born in 1874 in Ruzhany (Rozhinoy), Slonim

in 1876 in Ruzhany to Moshe and Chaya Agushwitz. Shimon and Sarah
Alperstein moved to Lunna at the end of the 19th century. Shimon was
authorized as a Rabbi. However, since he did not want to have an axe
to grind, he was also a Shochet (ritual slaughterer) in Lunna. He was
a reader of Scriptures ("Baal Keriah") in the small
synagogue of the "Mitnagdim".
