Tbilisi Synagogues

 

Even today a distinction is being kept between the synagogues of Georgian rite and those of Ashkenazi rite.

 

Georgian Jews Synagogue

(The Great Synagogue)

The Great Synagogue building is located in the old historical district of Tbilisi.  It was built from 1895 to 1903 by Georgian Jews from Akhaltsihe.

Ashkenazi Synagogue

(The Little Synagogue)

Marker

The Little Synagogue was built by the Jews of Tskhinvali in the 1910s. It is also named Beit Rachel. This is an active synagogue located in the old Tbilisi historical district.
