Tbilisi Synagogues Even today a distinction is being kept between the synagogues of Georgian rite and those of Ashkenazi rite. Georgian Jews Synagogue (The Great Synagogue) The Great Synagogue building is located in the old historical district of Tbilisi.  It was built from 1895 to 1903 by Georgian Jews from Akhaltsihe.
