1934 Request for Wood for Children

The first image is an official document made up 03.10.1934 written by Chaim Mendel Horowitz - rabbi in Tarnobrzeg addressed to Count Tarnowski. [written at official sheet of paper of rabbi]

Rabbi Horowitz requests the wood "on behalf of poor children [from] the Jewish school." Count Tarnowski had given the wood in previous years and there is a request for 1934/1935 school year. Rabbi Horowitz underscores the philantrophy of the county towards poor people. He also requests 7 cords of tough wood for himself which could be bought for fair price from the nearby woods.

The second document describes Rabbi Horowitz's allotment of wood. As a result of the first letter, the Rabbi could buy 7 cords of wood from the Buda forests with 20% of sluice for 24 zlotys per cord. The county agreed to provide wood for Jewish school for the 1934/1935 school year.
