The section below, provided by Sylvia, refers to her relatives Cozodoy, who were born in Pokatilovo and emigrated to Argentina.

The first ancestor of whom we are aware was Benemin (Beynsih) Kozodoy. He may had been the son of Leizer Kozodoy. Benemin and the next three generations were born in Pokatilovo.
He had a son Meilej (1834) who married Beyla and they had two sons: Leib (1862) and Elias El Kosodoy/Cozodoy (1862- October 10, 1924, in Rosario Argentina)

Leib and his wife Sura had five children (Nuchim, Peisah, Haim, Rivka and Simha). As far as we know, Nuchim was the only one to emigrate to Argentina.

Elias married Sofia Sheindla Petigorsky. They had four children, all of them were born in Pokatilovo and died in Argentina:
Abraham (1891- June 11,1967)
Leib (died in May 30, 1966)
Clara- Haya Zlata was born in 1895
Sara (1902- Feb 18, 1964)

In the early twentieth century the situation deteriorated in Pokatilovo with the rise of bloody pogroms. The Russo-Japanese War, 1904 - 1905 and economic crises in Russia resulted in the largest emigration figures in the period 1900 to 1914. In Argentina two institutions were created: the Baron Hirsch Fund and the JCA (Jewish Colonization Association). Their mission was to assist the emigration of the Jews. The first years were very difficult as they did not speak Spanish and had to become accustomed to a new way of life. It is very interesting to mention that while most of the immigrants went to agricultural colonies, the Cozodoy family went to the City of Rosario, Province of Santa Fe, and the majority of the family have remained in this area to this day.

As you can see in the following document, Ele Kosoday together with his older son Abraham, left for Argentina on Oct 29, 1909, in the Ship Armenia. He was 46 years old and Abraham was 18. When they arrived to Argentina, the last name was changed to Cozodoy.

Sofia went to Argentina later together with Luis, Clara and Sara, and a cousin Nuchim Cozodoy (who died in Rosario on July 29, 1962)

Elias founded in Rosario the Yidish School Deguel Yehuda.

Abraham operated a general store. He married Beila (Berta) Golbert (Feb. 1895- Dec 7, 1965). They had five sons: Jose, Manuel, Elias, Luis and Julio.

Luis was a tailor. He married his partner's sister, Teresa Banker (who died on Jun 29, 1960). They had two sons: Elias and Manuel.

Clara had a small store and she took care of her mother Sofia. She married a Goldman and they had a son Abraham and a daughter Catalina.

Sara, my beautiful grandmother, married Julio Waibsnaider and moved away. It was a shiduk arranged by Julio's boss in Moises Ville. They lived in a small town (Elisa), in the Province of Santa Fe. Later on, when their health became fragil, they moved to the city of Santa Fe, to be closer to us. They had two sons: Luis and my father Elias.

Sofia was very beautiful, with an aristocratic presence which all her descendants inherited.
