David Lvovich (Itzko-Leybovich) Krasner (1886-1941)
By Alex Gliksberg
A teacher of history, Russian language and geography, Krasner taught at the Rappoport Boys’ Gymnasium before the revolution of 1917. After the revolution he taught in several schools including Jewish School No.83.
His knowledge of history and geography was limitless. His students still remember an after school current events club organized by Krasner that met every day. His teaching methods were imaginative and unusual. To help students learn he organized themed field trips to various museums, exhibitions, and archeological digs.
David Krasner stayed in Odessa during the German and Romanian occupation of the city and was hanged during one of the mass massacres in 1941.
