Mattersdorf is a town in Burgenland, the easternmost province of Austria.
Until 1920, the town was part of the Kingdom of Hungary in the Austria-Hungarian Empire and was known as Mattersdorf in German and Nagymárton in Hungarian. After World I ended, the empire was dissolved and Mattersdorf became part of the Republic of Austria. Its name officially changed to Mattersburg in 1924. |
