The
picture shows only a fragment of an advertising sign which survives on
ul. Zielona ("Green Street"). This street is in the vicinity of Zieloniego
Square. The partial sign in Polish reads "sale of beer and honey". The
Hebrew word "kosher" appears in the lower right-hand corner.
The store
no longer exists -- only the sign remains as testimony to the presence
of the former Jewish community. Efforts to preserve signs such as this
one have, so far, been unsuccessful.
