Uzpaliai Documents from YIVO

YIVO, founded in 1925 in Vilna, Poland (now Vilnius, Lithuania) as the Yiddish Scientific Institute, is now known as the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and is located in New York City.  Among its preeminent collection of eastern European history is a group of documents from Uzpaliai, part of the Record Group 2, Collection of Lithuanian Jewish Communities.

Bev and Arky Berkal have obtained copies of many of those documents from the history of our town and have  translated them for us.  We are able to share them with you courtesy of YIVO and Chief Archivist Fruma Mohrer and Archivist Gunnar Berg.
