Lists of Jewish Holocaust Victims from Mazheik

 

The following lists include names of Jewish individuals or families from Mazheik who were brutally murdered by the Nazis, or their Lithuanian collaborators, in the course of the Holocaust, or fell in action during World-War II.

 

The First List was compiled from the following private sources (the codes refer to the “source” column in the table):

 

  1. NF - List prepared by Nechama Frid z"l (blessed be her memory) (nee Lipnitzky, native of Mazheik), Tel-Aviv, 25.6.2004. Nechama was associated with the Irgun Yotzei Lita ('Federation of ex-Lithuanians, tel.972-3-6964812 in Tel Aviv.

 

  1. YT - List included in the book: “The Litvak who Survived, Rescued and Went to Eretz-Israel” by Yehoshua Trigor, 2004, Hebrew (pp. 222-224, 227).

 

  1. PI - Personal information, mainly from family sources.

 

The Second List was compiled from Pages of Testimony (PoT) from the Yad Va’Shem Organization.

 

The Third List  includes the names of Jewish students and teachers of the Mazeikiai Governmental Gymnasium who were murdered in the Holocaust.

Some of the information included in List 1 is based on memories and personal information from over 60 years ago. Being unable to verify the accuracy or completeness of this lists and details, we apologize in advance for possible inaccuracies and/or incompleteness in the list, including names that were mistakenly spelled, included or omitted, or any other inaccurate details. Any corrections will be accepted with gratitude.

Corrections or remarks concerning information included in List 2 should be referred to Yad Va’Shem organization.
