There
were two Jewish cemeteries in
Stanisławów. The newer
cemetery, established in
1927, still has hundreds of
surviving tombstones, thanks to
the efforts of Rabbi Kolesnik in
Ivano Frankivsk and IAJGS
International Cemetery Project.
This cemetery was badly damaged
during WWII and in the 1960's by
the Soviets.
The older
Jewish cemetery has been
completely destroyed and is
currently the site of a film
cinema. There are no surviving
tombstones in the latter. |
