Jewish families who lived in Berehove and probably the surrounding communities used the Berehove Cemetery as the final resting place for their loved ones. The cemetery is located 500 meters from the local town cemetery, with the entrance gate located on Byn. Tomaш Мiгaя (Tomash Mihaya str.). The GPS cordinates are: 48°12'32.77" N / 22°39'25.78" E.
The cemetery is bordered by a fence and walls with 1,895 tombstones (as of 2013) and the cemetery is very well maintained. Caretakers of the cemetery live nearby the cemetery.

It is a Torah commandment to return the body to the earth upon passing, as it it written "Unto dust shall you return" (Genesis 3:19). Our sages teach us that this means placing the body directly in the ground with no casket. After preparation of the deceased for burial by the Chevra Kadesha (Burial Society), the Aron [pictured above] was used to transport the deceased to their final resting place. In Israel, placing the body directly in the ground—with no casket—is still a prevailing custom. In America, most, if not all states, mandate the use of caskets by law.
This video gives you views of the Berehove (Beregszász) Cemetery. In the film, Joseph VAYS, one of the persons responsible for the restoration of this cemetery, was assisting a descendant visiting the cemetery and while there, he placed a Yahrzeit (memorial) candle at the grave of his father, Zoltan WEISS (VAYS).
