The Market

I want to tell a story about the shtetl Husi as it existed in the 1800's. I want to get your attention so that you will add your own stories and photos. The gentleman to the right is my great-grandfather LABE DAVID, who came with his mother to Husi by wagon. He has a gentle face, a white beard, and hazel eyes like mine. He has a grandson, named for him, who was forced to remain in Romania by the Communists. Today, this Labe David LIVES IN ISRAEL!

My name is Rennie and in my home in NJ, I pass through the hallways. THE WALLS HOLD THE PHOTOS OF MY ANCESTORS. I nod to my relatives.
OPEN your mouths
TALK to me
Tell me about your lives. They are mute.
ALAS!!!! I can only IMAGINE!!!!

HELP US ALL REMEMBER -- send your stories and photos in remembrance of those who can no longer speak.

I would like to thank the following people for their photo and information contributions:   Sara Scher, Estabell Gettis, Linda Mormile, Ken Golding, Rita Margolis, Marcel Glaskie, Stella Statman, Puica Nita, Raluca Dragnea, Sterling Euster, Adrian Menura, Brahna Nudel, Adina Ungureanu, Rachael Peterson, Jory Faibish, David Eisen, Alma Cahn, Gary Ackerman, Nancy Kushner, A and D Weinman, L Violin, Pat Braverman, C. Rider, Leah Gedalia, Monica Dumitrascu, Elliott
