Rabbi Shlomo Leib WEINBERGER served as shochet (religious slaughterer) in the late 1870's until the early 1880's. Later on, he moved to Teglas, Hungary, and eventually to NyirBogad where he served as Rabbi and where he died and is buried. |

He married Tauba TERKELTAUB from Munkács, a grandaughter of Rabbi Ahron Zvi TERKELTAUB, the Brid'er Rabbi. |

After him, Rabbi Avrohom LIPSHITZ served as shochet and dayan (judge) in Zaluzhzia as well as the nearby village of Zavydov. He was born in 1863 in the village of Ilnitsa (near Irshava) to Rabbi Shabsai LIPSHITZ, who was the a famous dayan in Ilnitsa and a great Talmudic scholar, author of many torah works including Yalkut Avraham—commenteries on the Bible and interpretations of Halacha (Jewish Code of Law). |

Rabbi Avraham LIPSHITZ eventually moved to Bilke in 1926 where he died on 11 Adar 1 5692/1932, at the age of 69. |

In 1927, Rabbi Chaim Shlomo HOROWITZ was accepted as Rabbi of Zaluzhzia and surrounding villages. He was a relative of Rabbi SPIRA from Munkács. Eventually, he moved to Romania, and from there, to New York where he settled. |

| ~ Zaluzhzhia Cemetery ~ |

Jewish families that lived in Zaluzhzhia, and possibly other nearby villages, used the Zaluzhzhia cemetery as the final resting place for their loved ones. |
|
The Jewish cemetery is located in the mountain—at the edge of the village—hidden by trees, brush, etc. |
|
In the documents section of the "Other" tab, you will find a link to a U.S. Commission Report completed in 2005 that attempted to document Jewish Cemeteries (and Synagogues and Mass Grave Sites) in Ukraine. This cemetery is not listed as well as many other village cemeteries of the Zakarpats'ka oblast. |
