Weibschneider family history.

The first ancestor of whom we know was Meir Weibschneider. He had two sons:
Abraham Itzjaq (born in Yampol in 1858, died in Moises Ville Argentina on Fe 4, 1930)

Abraham married Jane (Clara) Malamud, daugher of Yacov (born in 1858 and died is Moises Ville on Nov 30, 1950. She was very small and healthy, known by the fact that she was able to do crafts and saw without reading glasses. She was very sweet and my father has loving memories of her.

Malke Waibschnaider Weibschneider

In the early twentieth century the situation deteriorated in Yampol with the rise of bloody pogroms. The Russo-Japanese War, 1904 - 1905 and economic crises in Russia resulted in the largest emigration figures in the period 1900 to 1914. In Argentina two institutions were created: the Baron Hirsch Fund and the JCA (Jewish Colonization Association). Their mission was to assist the emigration of the Jews by establishing agricultural colonies. Our families were given land, seeds, and tools. The first years were very difficult as they did not speak Spanish and had to become accustomed to a new way of life. They settled in the same settlement in Moises Ville, keeping their nuclear family. As time progressed most moved to the cities of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Rosario and Cordoba. Still, many of the relatives are buried in the Cemetery of Moises Ville.
As you can see from the following Ship manifest information, the family of Abraham emigrated to Argentina on Nov 19, 1909 in the Ship Santa Elena.
Almost the entire family went together, including 3 grandchildren. Gise (Josefa), married Israel Itzjak Malamud and they stayed behind. Israel went to Argentina in 1914. He went to Medanos and from there to Moises Ville. Gise, together with their children Jacobo, Jose and Raquel, went eight years later, in the Ship Pampa. From Ukraine they went to Bucarest, Italy and then Buenos Aires. At the beginning they stayed at the Immigrants Hotel.

Jaime's family also emigrated altogether, on May 13, 1913, in the Ship Hohenstaufen.

At their arrival to Argentina, the last name changed a little. The descendants of Abraham choose Waibsnaider, the descendants of Jaime, Waibschnaider.
There is a family tale, that in the 1700's, the family was in Germany, and when they moved (or the borders changed) to Russia, they kept the German last name. I couldn't verify the information yet, but I did found many people in Poland, specially, with a similar last name, different spelling.

Much to my surprise, I discovered the Ship Manifest, as part of the Hamburg Passenger Lists, of my great grandfather Abraham Itzkaj, with his sons Schulim (Salomon) and Veivl (Adolfo). They went for the first time to Argentina in the Ship Belgrano, leaving Hamburg in Feb 24, 1901.
At this point it's not clear how long did they stay. I will assume they worked very hard to save money to bring the entire family in 1909. When they went back to Yampol, Schulim got married and had two children before they finally emigrated to Argentina.

ABOUT MY GRANDFATHER, JULIO ( CHASKEL, JAIQUEL)
He was a hard worker, with a strong will, endurance and dynamism. He taught himself to write and read. He was very well respected by everybody. Due to his honesty, entrepreneurial skills, and capability, he was a member of the Community for the development of the town Elisa, where they lived. It was a great honor, specially because he was Jewish.
When he was young, he worked for a coil store in Moises Ville. The owner liked him very much and decided to introduce him to Sara Cozodoy from Rosario. They got married and moved to Elisa, where their sons Luis and my father Elias were born. My father tells the story that he and his brother were kidding at their parents different appearance: Julio was short and a little heavy, Sara was tall, skinny and very beautiful. I'm glad my dad inherited Sara's looks.
He loved the ranch life. He felt a great attraction to that. One day, he found out that it was a deserted ranch in the town of Nanducita (3150 acres). He read in the newspaper about an auction that will take place in the city of Buenos Aires. From all the people in the town, he was the only one with the courage to travel to the big city. He went to the auction, and there was one more bidder present. He was very excited to bid 14000 pesos and got the ranch! When he returned to Elisa and people found out, they came and offered him and additional 10000 pesos to purchase it from him. But he refused. "I bought it for myself and I'll work it". At certain point he had 300 cows.
When my father turned thirteen years old, they sent him to High School in the city of Santa Fe. Back at that time the communication wasn't as easy as today. It was a difficult move for my father, being so young and staying at a house with strangers, far away from home. He graduated from the Universidad del Litoral as a Civil Engineer, met my mom and had a great life.
When my grandparents' health started to fail, they sold the ranch and moved to the city of Santa Fe, close to us.
