Genealogy Researchers in Hungary

Some fine genealogists with a specialty in Hungary, because they live there, are the following people who have already helped many people with their research.  They are just listed in alphabetical order.

  • Andras HIRSCHLER:

Andras is a retired diplomat/communication professional/editor and was engaged in business promotion for more than forty years. As one of the founding members he joined the Hungarian Society For Family Research in 2013.  In his own words:

"Last year I set up a Jewish Genealogical Working Group within the Society.   The Group does not have a separate website but we have a discussion forum . The Group is also open for non-Society members, applications should be sent to zsidogenealogia@macse.hu. Applicants will have access to the Forum and the associated MS Excel file, in which they can circulate their inquiries and list surnames and locations of special interest.

As for Tolcsva, I have no particular expertise but as a fairly experienced indexer I shall be pleased to transcribe BMD registers if the need arises."

  • Andras KOLTAI:
  • Karesz VANDOR:

Who researches Hungarian ancestry and is available to conduct tours.

  • Agnes SZEGO:

Agnes is a librarian and historian, who lives in Budapest, and works in the library of the Jewish University.

Agnes says, "Our foundation (Tiszafüredi Menóra Alapítvány) renovated and cared the Jewish cemetery of Tiszafüred. (The distance beetween Tiszafüred and Tolcsva is 139 km.)"

Agnes actually has family connections to Tolcsva.
