Plonsk, home town of David Ben Gurion, the first Prime
Minister of Israel, witnessed centuries of historical and cultural co-existence
between Jews and Poles. The Town Council is currently promoting widespread
cultural and educational activities for the residents - young and old. In order
to preserve the local history this also includes that of its Jewish
inhabitants. PLONSK is proud of its renowned off spring David Ben
Gurion, who is considered one of the most remarkable statesmen in the 20th century. In the last few years, the Councils of Plonsk and Ramat-
Negev have been operating as “Twin
Cities.” Together with the Ben Gurion Research Institute and the
Ben Gurion Heritage Institute, they initiated a commemoration for David Ben
Gurion by establishing a museum at his birthplace. The proposed museum plan to
exhibit Ben Gurion’s roots and childhood in Plonsk and expose his unique
personality, international prominence and unique contributions to the process
of Nation-State building. The Museum will be established in the center of the City
in a modern building which will reflect, by its unique powerful design, the
personality of Ben Gurion. It is hope that the museum will be integrated into the
educational and cultural programs of Plonsk and become a center of interest for
Polish, Israelí and worldwide Jewish visitors
