The Hendler/Gendler
family was founded by the marriage of Hirsh-Leib Hendler or Gendler
(let's call him Hendler) and Esther Rubin. They had a number of
children, most of who came to America, but one, Chaya-Etta Hendler
married Mordechai Hyatt and left Kupiskis and went to Minsk, at an
unknown date. It is from Chaya-Etta that the following wedding photo
was obtained through her daughter Vera Hyatt Kuperman, who gave it to
Arnold Schwartz, a descendant of one of the branches who came to
America and were known as Handler.

The photo has no known names attached to it as they have been lost.
However, a Hendler family wedding did occur in Kupiskis in 1922 between
Hirsh-Leib and Esther Hendler's son Chaim Hendler, born 1890, and his
bride Jenta Chiger, born 1900, the daughter of Simon Chiger and Dobre
Kavalsky. The photo may represent the individuals at that wedding.
