The Russian text on the manuscript euphemistically referring to "citizens" says:
"Here lies the remains of more than 2063 Soviet
citizens who were killed by the barbarous Fascists on 2 February 1942".
Below there is a date, presumably when the stone was erected, which is
illegible but appears to be in the 1950s.
