Bela (née GROSSMAN) * and Eliezer Mordechai SLOMOVITZ * 1935 Photo: Courtesy of Stanley M. DUB, USA
|
Photo taken on their wedding day. It is remembered Eliezer was given a dowry of gold coins in a sack and he put them under his hat, but somehow lost them at the wedding celebration. They had three daughters and they were shipped to Auschwitz together in May, 1944 and were murdered after arrival. Upon arrival at the "selection point" at Auschwitz, Eliezer volunteered to take another person's young child because he wanted to stay with his family. The other mother survived, but Eliezer was gassed with his family. |
