Zechariah and Brucha Wiesenthal

Return to "Faces In Skala"

ZECHARIYA WIESENTHAL and his wife BRUCHA (BERTA) SCHWARZBACH WIESENTHAL (born ca. 1871). After her husband lost most of the money he had earned in New York, the profits from Brucha's herring store supported her family. Brucha was considered modern because she used rouge, refused to wear a wig or cover her hair, and did not have a shabbat goy, which upset her husband's family. Zechariyah and Brucha died in the Holocaust.
