~ Radvanka Cemetery ~

Jewish families that lived in Radvanka, and possibly other nearby villages, used the Radvanka cemetery as the final resting place for their loved ones.

The Jewish cemetery is located in the town. Today, the cemetery appears to be behind the Christian cemetery, but actually, Catholic burials are in the area of the Jewish cemetery. It is not maintained and periodically, the cemetery is visited by descendants.

This is the oldest cemetery in the Uzhhorod (Ungvár) area—which is rarely visited—and probably dates back to the 9-12th century. Time and humans have almost destroyed the old cemetery, which now is covered by overgrown weeds and surrounded with a collapsed stone fence. There are scattered and broken tombstones all around, however, there are still a few readable tombstones.

In 2014, the descendents of Rabbi Pinchas ADLER ben Rabbi Shalom erected an Ohel (mausoleum) for him in the former Jewish cemetery, today in the Catholic section.

In the documents section of the "Other" tab, you will find a link to a U.S. Commission Report completed in 2005 that attempted to document Jewish Cemeteries (and Synagogues and Mass Grave Sites) in Ukraine. This cemetery is not listed as well as many other village cemeteries of the Zakarpats'ka oblast.

~ Radvanka Cemetery Tombstones ~

At some point in the past, the Radvanka Jewish cemetery became a place for other than Jewish burials
—so they are commingled in the cemetery.

Following are the remaining Jewish tombstones found, however, there are many fragments of broken stones.
