Political Biography (Werner)

The accused joined the “Frontbann Charlottenbourg )1. Berliner SA)” already in 1923, according to a biography he wrote on 11 July 1939, to which he belonged until he joined the Reichswehr on 1 April 1925.  According to this previously mentioned autobiography, he “participated actively in the election campaign in the Frontbann Charlottenburg, always in a mobile squad, shock troop, etc.”  doc vol VII p 602 f

On leaving the Wehrmacht (20 April 1937) the accused immediately joined the NSDAP.  His entry date is given as 1 May 1937 in party documents.  Doc vol VII p 691

In the years 1938 and 1939, Werner was active as honorary “B.O.” (Betriebsobmann) in the SD-Unterabschnitt Saar, while he was employed as Amtssekretaer in the Administration Office Kleinblittersdorf.  Furthermore, he was “Blockwalter” at the NSV.  In this time, he applied for membership in the SS and the SD.  Doc vol VII p 601, p 607 – 617

The accused refrained from mentioning his membership in the NSDAP or any other NS organization in a questionnaire of 24 April 1946 and described himself as “politically innocent”.  In accordance with this statement he was categorized as “not included” in a decision of the Hessian State Ministry – official Complainant of the Speaker’s Chamber – of 17 March 1947.  [In short, he was given the official status given to non-Nazis in post-war Germany].  Doc vol VII p 6208 f

Nothing was discovered about any political activity of the accused after the war.
