Boruch Chaikel Horwitz was born in 1812. It was said that he saw Napoleon. It is also told that he descends from the rabbinical family of Yeshaya Horwitz, reinforced by the fact that his children were cousins of Rosa Luxemburg whose mother was also of this family. He married Roche Beile Krivitsky in Kobylnik in about 1832. He was a waldshocher in the Czar's forests. He had two sons (Avrom Moshe and Chaim Ber) and four daughters. Miriam Leah, Sara, Chana and Chasia. It is said that he lived to be 103. He died at the dairy farm of his daughter Sara Plotnik in Porubanck, Lithuania on the outskirts of Vilna.
