Kaushany Vital Jewish Records
There are only limited number of birth, death and marriage records available from the sources I found so far. If anyone has more information, please let me know and share it with our 'Kaushany' community.
According to Miriam Weiner, Jewish Roots in Ukraine and Moldova, p.464 only following records available in Moldovian Archives:
- Census records for 1848-1853, (fond-134/2/142)
- Kahal records for 1930-1932, (fond-1520/2/11-12)
- Land record for 1941, (fond-112/1/1482-1483, 1560)
Some Moldavian Archive records were copied by LDC Church and available on microfilms to view and copy. All birth and death records were digitized, translated and trascribed by JewishGen volunteers and now available at the JewishGen website. (I participated in translation of all Kaushany records among Moldavian records.)
Here is the list of birth and death records for Kaushany:
- 1866, Birth records (51 children born)
- 1876, Birth records (57 children born)
- 1878, Birth records (68 children born)
- 1887, Birth records (72 children born)

I read many other Kaushany records at the LCD library in Salt Lake City, among them Revizskie Skazki, the tax and family records of Jewish people in Kaushany. I hope that these microfilms will be digitized and soon we could start translating/transcribing records and information become available on JewishGen.
