Belchatow Yizkor Book [1951]

The Belchatow Yizkor (Memorial) Book was written in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1951. It is divided into four parts: The History of the Jews in Belchatow; Belchatow in Struggle, Work, and Creation; Political Movements; and The Destruction of Belchatow. Pinkas Hakehillot [1976]

"Pinkas Hakehillot Polin," Encyclopedia of Jewish Communities POLAND, Volume I: The Communities of Lodz and Its Region, published by Yad Vashem Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Authority, Jerusalem 1976 (written in Hebrew).  The Preface states, " This book is the first in a series of volumes dedicated to the Jewish communities of Poland and is part and parcel of the Pinkas Hakehillot project, whose aim is to establish a memorial to European Jewry which was destroyed in our lifetime."  Click here for a translation of the section on Belchatow (pages 70-77) on the Yizkor Book Project site hosted by JewishGen.

Memorial Monument for the Jews of Belchatow 

This impressive monument is located in the Chelmno Death Camp where a majority of Belchatow's Jews were  killed. The monument lists the names of the martyrs. Click here to go to a list of these names.

Memorial Monument for the Jews of Belchatow

This monument was first dedicated in April 1975.  The two side-panels of names were added in August 1992.  Phyllis and Hiller Bell (Belchatowski) are pictured here attending that dedication. Click here to see additional information and photographs of the monument.

Belchatow Anniversary Publication of the Mutual Aid Society of Belchatow and Its Surrounding Areas [1959]

This Yiddish/Spanish publication was written in September 1959 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The authors are many of the same people who wrote the Yizkor Book in 1951.

This Yiddish/Spanish publication was written in August 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It contains articles about life and the Holocaust in Belchatow as well as stories about the emigrants in Argentina.  It includes pages of "sponsors," often made in memory of family members who perished in the Holocaust, and many list the survivors' occupations and addresses in Argentina.

This Yiddish/Spanish publication was written in July 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It contains 108 pages, written in both Yiddish and some Spanish, and contains photographs and articles about Belchatowers and life in Belchatow before the war. The pages of "sponsors" often are made in memory of family members who perished in the Holocaust and many list the survivors' occupations and addresses in Argentina.  
The photographs and table of contents will be added to the Yizkor Book Project site once we get the table of contents and captions translated.

Publication of the Society of Residents of Belchatow in Argentina.  Dedication of the Inauguration of the three Monuments, in memory of the JEWS of BELCHATOW, murdered by the Nazis during the years of the Second World War 1939-1945.   [1994]

This Yiddish/Spanish publication was written in October 1994 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and contains 139 pages and many photographs. It was edited by Belchatowers J.M. Pukacz, H. Goldminc, and Z. Przedborski.
