Kling-Gordon Family

Originally, the Kling family was from Vabalninkas and came to live in Kupiskis in 1880. One branch of the family was that of Yehuda Leib and Etos Kling and their four children: Chaya Riva, Peshe Leah, Elikim Getsel, and Rocha Minna. (Getzel Kling went to Wellington, South Africa, with his wife Leah Rocha, and raised a large family there.)

The Kling's daughter Chaya Riva, born 1859 in Kupiskis, married Yehuda Leib ben Tsemakh Gordon and they had three children: Alter, Leibe and Sheina Rochel. Leibe Gordon, married Abraham Meller from Pandelys and went to Paarl, South Africa, in about 1903-04. And Sheina Rochel Gordon, brought out to South Africa by her sister Chaya Riva, is the grandmother of Solly Radowsky.

This photo: Chaya Riva Kling Gordon, with her husband Yehuda Leib ben Tsemakh Gordon, and their son Alter Gordon, taken in 1902 in Kupishok. Note the tropical backdrop provided by the photo studio.
