THE BIALYSTOKER MEMORIAL BOOK

Published by

BIALYSTOKER CENTER, New York 1982

Editorial Committee

I. Shmulewitz, Izaak Rybal, Rabbi Lowell S. Kronick

The Bialystoker Memorial Book is a Yizkor book published in 1982 in New York by The Bialystoker Center to honor the once vibrant Jewish city of Bialystok and the brave resistance and ultimate destruction of this great Jewish community. The Memorial Book is published in both English and Yiddish.

The English section of the Memorial Book has been reproduced on the Internet at Ada Holtzman's Zchor.org website with permission from The Bialystoker Center in New York.

This Surname index contains all the names mentioned in the English section of the Memorial Book and was initially created by David Rosen of Boston, Massachusetts. We are very thankful to David for donating his index to BIALYGen. Sidney Zabludoff, BIALYGen's Research Coordinator, edited and added to the index, which is published here in alphabetical order.

Please be sure to search this surname list for spelling variations. This surname index should be used in conjunction with the Internet publication of the English section of the Memorial Book to find references to people of interest to you.

In the Forward to this book, The Bialystoker Memorial Book Committee wrote:

We hope the Bialystoker Memorial Book will serve as a worthy monument to Jewish Bialystok, whose memory remains so precious to us. We have not been content to provide just the history of Bialystok, its development and, finally, its end in the Holocaust. We have also included the story of how surviving Bialystoker Jews tried to rebuild their community -- to no avail -- after the war. And we have traced to the present day the activities of landsleit in the United States, Israel, Argentina, and France, which demonstrate the unconquerable Bialystoker spirit.

This book is still in print. Copies can be obtained from The Bialystoker Center, 228 East Broadway, New York, NY 10002, USA. Please call the Center at (1) 212-475-7755 for pricing. Copies also show up for sale at used book dealers and on auction websites. A list of some of the libraries that have this book can be found here.
