According to family lore, the Birnbaum family lived in Sečovce for 300 years.

In 1935 the Birnbaum family (see photo above) was still living in Sečovce. This family included eleven children who had survived past infancy. The Birnbaums owned a soda bottling facility and an inn/restaurant; they also owned their own home. These were all confiscated during World War II. The surviving family returned to Sečovce at the end of the war before dispersing to Israel and Canada. One brother remained in Bratislava. The family surname was changed to Duby.

Some family members visited Sečovce in 1988 and again in 2012, but were unable to find any useful family information.

If you have information about this family, please contact S. Duby at sylviaduby@sbcglobal.net
