Welcome to the website devoted to documenting the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Yurburg (Jurbarkas) Lithuania, the subject of the 2007 Project Preservation trip, in which roughly 20 Dartmouth students and others flew to Lithuania in June 2007 to restore the neglected cemetery.

Please click here for more information on Dartmouth Hillel's annual Project Preservation trip.

In this site, you will find the following sections:

Map - Detailed map of the cemetery. You can click on different sections to bring up closer views of those sections, as well as choose headstones from a list to view their information.

Headstones - Choose one of the hundreds of headstones to view its photo and if possible, a translation and a transliteration.
History - General information on the history of Yurburg and its Jewish cemetery.
Photos - Photographs taken during the trip of the restoration effort.

Please note that because of many years of wear and tear, the writing on some headstones was unable to be transcribed. If possible, in some cases, an educated guess was made as to the wording on the stone.

Explore the site, learn about Jewish history in Yurburg (Jurbarkas), and for more information, please email Dartmouth Hillel.
