Certificate from the Russian Tsarist Army confirms registration for military conscription 1888/9 (aged 18) and lists him as from Vitebsk as a 'meschanin', translated for us as 'Tradesman'
Ticket of Leave from Tsarist Army in year c1890 (he's aged 21) with illegible date for absence, again listing him as from Vitebsk and as tradesman

Listed as Isaacs in 1901 census, and Samuel Isaacs recorded there as cabinet maker/journeyman
