(and my connection with Storojinet)

The beginning of the story was on (about) 1998, when I was surfing the web and found a web site called jewishGen.

One of the services offered by this web site is family root searching. The searching is quite simple : you just entered your surname, town and country and give your details. You can also search existing entries. So, I have entered my details, and from time to time I check to see if there are new entries for my family surname - Riegler. Except the existing entries which were not relevant, there were no new entries.

On (about) February 2001 I got Email from Mr Isak Shtein from New York, telling me that he have seen my family search in jewish-gen website. Mr Shtein told me that he is from Storojinet, and he remember the Riegler family. He even remember the name of my grand grand father - Zusa. This was quite amazing for me. We start writing each other, and he told that he have younger friend here in Israel that might tell me more. That was Mr. Reuven Ferber - the president of the Storojinet association.

I have talk with Mr. Ferber by phone, and I must say, that that was a conversation I can never forget. He told me facts about my grand grand father, known facts that I know from my grandmother stories, and some less known facts.

As soon as I could I have talk with the brother of my grandmother, which approved al the facts to be 100% - and even got remembered by memories long ago.

Mr. Ferber was the key person for my travel. He told me that he visited in Storojinet before, and gave me all the contact people in Israel and in Ukraine in order to arrange such travel.

So, in August 2001 I have took a flight to Bucharest - Romania, from which I took a domestic flight to Suceva - Romania, then I cross the border to Ukraine by car, and stayed in Chernivtsi which is 20 km from Storojinet.
