ZECHARIYAH WIESENTHAL (born ca. 1870; son of Leah and Yosef Leib Wiesenthal). Zechariyah came to America in 1904, intending to earn money and then return to Skala. He lived in New York for several years, during which time he helped a number of his nieces and nephews to emigrate. His wife BRUCHA very much wanted to live in New York, but Zechariyah didn't like it in America and by 1909 had returned to Skala. He became a money lender, but lost most of his money because of currency devaluations and unrepaid loans. |
