| Schmiel Srul Schachter-Zwirnbaum, born 1890 in Skala, son of Leib Schacter-Zwirnbaum (shown here on left) and Esther Wiesenthal. Schmiel emigrated to New York in 1905 and changed his name to Sam Zeidner. He joined the US Army, served in both World Wars and, after a distinguished career, he retired with the rank of Colonel. He died in Texas in 1984. |
