Return to "Faces In Skala"

Jewish Soldiers in the Polish Army (1927). On the far left is MOSHE EFRAIM (MORRIS) WIESENTHAL (born 1902; son of Zechariah and Brucha Wiesenthal). In 1930, a European-born woman named SARAH who had emigrated to New York came to Skala with the then-munificent sum of $5000, looking for a husband. Morris always said that she was more impressed with his atypically modern mother BRUCHA than she was with him. After marrying in Skala, Morris and Sarah came to New York. He owned a grocery store in the Bronx and died in Florida in 1985.
