Ida Waxman-Einbinder Wiesenthal was born Chaya Zlata Waxman in Kalarash, Bessarabia in 1892. The daughter of Ita Bella Cohen and Jacob Waxman, she sometimes used the surname of her stepfather Joseph Einbinder. Ida emigrated to New York in 1908. Upon marrying Skala native Jacob Wiesenthal in 1917, she joined the Skala Benevolent Society. When the Skala Ladies Auxiliary was founded later that year, she became its first president. An active member of the Society and the Ladies Auxiliary throughout her life, she chaired many Society committees. Ida Wiesenthal died in Florida in 1980. She is buried next to her husband, in the Skala plot in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
