Hettie thinks Kopelowitz name was Isador or Solly. Punyan sounded correct. Said maybe 3 marriages but kept very quiet about it.
SHe says Annie and Gitel are from second marriage and Etta(not Ette),Mere,Feige Mina and Avram are from first marriage. Assumes grandmother was Dora. Never met. Knew her mother as Mary..
Annie Kopelowitz married Reuben Raizon. Children Benjamin, Jesse m Louis Shrager, and Solomon m Sheila Hescen.
Mere (Mary to Hettie) married in Joburg. Moved to Bulawayo.
Children- Dora m Lou Sachs as shown. Children - Adrienne (bridesmaid at Hettie marriage) married Gruskin in Joburg. 4 children. Second child Jeffrey in Joburg or Pretoria. 3rd Evlyn (Dr!) married to Simeon Simsischy(Anaesth...) Children - Alison and Monique.

Hello Eileen,
My name is Elaine Cohen and we are cousins. It is a small Jewish world that
has brought this letter to you. Probably Shana has already explained this.
So I will start with our branch, the Klassniks.
So how are we related? Well... your great-grandfather Sharga Fieval
Klauznik was a brother to my great-grandfather Shmuel Klauznik, who was
known in the US as Samuel Klausner. I have been working on this Klauznik
tree for many years but only recently was able to piece together additional
siblings to my ggf. So far I know there were 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Our
family is from Salant/Salantai, which is just west of Plunge/Plungyan.
Tsvi Hirsh Klauznik had the following children:
1. Chana, who married Alexander Jacobs. They lived in Darbenai, also near
to the above towns. They had 8 children and immigrated to the US in 1888.
2. Next was my ggf Shmuel. He married Devorah Fain, who was born in
Plungyan. They lived in Salant and had 7 chidren. My gf Leib/Louis was the
second oldest. This family emigrated to the US between 1899 and 1903. They
sent the oldest son Morris [Klassnik] first, before 1899. In London he got
on the wrong boat and ended up in SA where he was met by your grandfather
Meyer.
3. Your ggf Shraga Fievel . Of course your know this branch, which
included your grandfather Meyer, Shmuel, Abel/Abraham, and Mordecai/Motel.
There is also some question about a daughter Elke. That is because I found
Abel and Elke on an ellis island manifest. They were listed as brother and
sister and were going to their Uncle Samuel Klausner. By the time they
arrived in 1905, the US family had already changed their name from Klauznik
to Klausner.
4. Lastly is another sister whose name I do not know. Her husband was
Yosel Joselowitz. Two of their sons went to the US in 1908, also to my ggf,
whom they listed as their Uncle. Another son is buried in Jerusalem, where
his granddaughter lives. Her parents lived in Paris.
I have been in touch with a number of your closer relatives. These include
Steven and Franklin Klausner in the US and Benyamin Klausner in Israel. Ben
knew this Joselowitz branch and we are now trying to locate them, though
that will take some digging on my part.
I have been able to trace our tree back to the 1840s in Salant. That is
mostly through the records for Salant/Salantai on Jewishgen.org.
Unfortunately the birth/marriage/death records for that town are lost.
There are many such records for Plunge that someday will be available on
Jewishgen, but unfortunately not for Salant. I look forward to seeing the
Plunge ones because my ggm, the wife of Shmuel Klauznik, was from Plunge. I
also have a large Fain/Fine tree for descendants of that branch.
