HENRYK  SIENKIEWICZ


(1846- 1916) novelist and publicist,

Laureate of the Nobel Prize; it was

most probably in Plonsk (while being

tutor of the Whyher family) That he

wrote his first, never published                                           

novel  entitled “Ofiara.”

LEON  RUTHOWSKI


(1862- 1917) scientific researcher,

worked as a physician in Plonsk and

conducted anthropological

examination of the residents of the Region.

JAN WALERY JEDRZEJEWICZ 


(1835- 1887) father of the Polish spectroscopy,

astronomer, worked as a physician in Plonsk

and established an astronomical observatory.

STANISLAW  KOPCZYNSKI


(1873- 1933) born in Plonsk,

physician and social activist,

author of school hygiene.

LUDWIK  SZTYRMER


(1809- 1886) born in Plonsk, novelist

classified as an author of Polish

fantastic and phychological prose,

Russian general, participated in the

November Uprising.

JAN MAJORKIEWICZ


(1820- 1847) born in Plonsk, historian

of Polish literature, philosopher and

liberation activist.

KONSTANTY  PAGOWSKI


(1890- 1967) born in Plonsk, theatre

and film actor, acted in the film “Dom na

postkowiu” (House of desolation),  and

“Zakazane piosenki” (Forbidden songs)

FRANCISZEK  SZWOCH


(1863-1939) marine painter, author of

“The Battle of Puck” and “Evening on

the bay,” graduated from the grammar

school of Plonsk, co-operated with the

secret independence organizations.

WALDEMAR  KOSINSKI


Born 1965 in Plonsk, weightlifter,

European Champion in 1996 and bronze

Medallist from the 1997 World

Championships in Cziang Mai.
