In 1912, Pietersburg founded its own congregation, the Pietersburg Hebrew Congregation.
A Jewish burial society, a benevolent society and the Pietersburg-Zoutpansberg Zionist Society was formed.
A communal hall was built in 1921 and a synagogue in 1953.
