Baron Von Rop owned the land on which Pakruojis was built. He kept good relations
with his Jewish citizens for example: When Moishe Shapiro died the Baron came and sat with
the widow Frada to offer his condolences.
Another
example:
When
the Jews were expelled from
Lithuania
in
1915, a
Jewish family from Pakruojis left the keys of their house to the Baron. When
they returned in 1918 the Baron handed over the keys to this family and they
could enter their house again. The house was in the same state as it was before
they were forced to leave it. |
