Translation of this text:
On the 25th of September 1944 the committee
of the Sovjets , district Pakruojis, issued a paper in which
the committee made known what the results were concerning their research
on the so called Nationalists and their behaviour at Morkakalnis in July and in
August 1944.
Those who took part in the committee were the mayor of Pakruojis and
members of the Soviet delegation of Pakruojis.
There were pits discovered in the Morkakalnis forest . The arrested
Sjejningas ( one of the assumed killers at Morkakalnis) had to show the
committee the discovered pits and to tell them what
had happened during those days. At
request of the committee
Sjejningas
had to point out where the pit of the murdered Jewish women, children and
elderly was. He showed them the
location. After digging one meter deep, the committee discovered a lot
of dead bodies lying entangled with one another, above and beneath, from
the left to the right, from the right to the left.
The committee couldn’t tell the age of the murdered victims or anything
specific, because, as they stated it was a terrible sight, a great mess. The
committee could see, that the Jewish women, children and elderly were shot
at the back of the head and that some of them were beaten on the skull (
totally broken) by means of a gunstock.
