Geography

The village of Moshny is situated to the southwest of the Dnieper River, which flows south and empties into the Black Sea, and north of the Vilshyanka River. The western side of the Dnieper in this area of the Cherkasy district (raion) consists of lowlands and forest. The Kremenchuk Reservoir, created when a hydroelectric power plant was built across the Dnieper River in 1959, is located to the east of Moshny. The reservoir is used for irrigation, flood control, transportation, and fishing. The area also has significant deposits of bauxite, coal, and peat.

The Cherkasy region is classified, geographically, as forest-steppe with rich, black soil. The region contains lowlands consisting of swampy areas and bogs, as well as lakes and rivers. The regional climate is typically mild, with average temperatures varying from a winter 23°F to a summer 68°F, though summer temperatures can be as high as 89°F, with winters being as cold as 10°F.
