In 1867, the Jews of Kraków were given permission by the Austrio-Hungarian authorities to move outside of Kraków. As a result of this concession, many Krakówers departed for Vienna in an attempt to better their lifestyle, or to attend the university there.
To assist you in tracing these Krakówers, several help tips are provided below. (We would welcome any additional tips that you feel can be added to this page.)
Vienna Jewish Cemetery - This cemetery is not far from the airport. Here, they have computerized data about the graves and their locations.
Jewish Community Office - Here, you can find marriage registrations, and names of members of the Jewish Community.
Vienna Municipality - This office has numerous Census records as well as old telephone books.
