Rozwadów Anecdotes from Todd Katz

My great grandfather, Mayer Katz was born in Rozwadów in 1891 (see birth certificate). His mother Rifka Beigel died in childbirth - he was her only child. His parents Rifka Beigel and Lezar Katz were not married in the eyes of the State as they had only had a religious wedding ceremony. For some reason, Mayer was raised by his paternal grandparents Abraham and Anna Katz and learned to be a Shochet from his grandfather. Mayer came to the US as a young man and his wife followed with their 5 children several months later.
