Video: The Balcony by Bernard Dichek.

More than 5,000 Jews lived in Kalusz, Poland before World War II; only a handful survived -- two of them were my parents.

Photos of Kalush Synagogue:

NOTE: During Susannah Juni's short visit to Kalush, she did not locate any old synagogues. In this region, it was not uncommon to have a small synagogue, besmedresh, inside of a home. Each town usually had at least one larger shul as well. Later, when she has an opportunity to review her videotapes in detail, she will try to recall if any of these houses were identified to her as being prayer houses of any sort. Should anyone reading this page have specific information about synagogues in Kalush, please send it to the webmaster so that it can be include here.
